Transparent PNG Guide for Product and E-commerce Images
A transparent product cutout is flexible for design work, but marketplaces do not all use the same image rules. Keep a clean master image and export the format required by each destination.
Why transparent PNGs are useful
PNG supports alpha transparency, so a product can be placed on different backgrounds without cutting it out again. This is useful for banners, catalogs, social posts, design templates and internal product libraries.
Transparent does not mean marketplace-ready
Many marketplaces publish their own requirements for main product images, including background color, image dimensions, subject coverage and allowed graphics. Check the current seller documentation for the specific marketplace before uploading.

Best when you need alpha transparency or a reusable cutout.
JPEG
Often smaller for photographic images when transparency is not needed.
WebP
Can provide efficient web delivery with lossy or lossless compression and optional transparency.
Master copy
Keep a high-quality original so you can create new exports without repeatedly recompressing the same file.
